Lycée Français International Jacques Prévert d’Accra (LFIA) is a French school accredited by the French Ministry of National Education and by the Agency for French Education Abroad (AEFE). Founded over 60 years ago, LFIA welcomes students from Kindergarten (age 3) through to Secondary level (age 18) and is the only school in this network in Ghana.

The school is a key partner of the French Embassy in Ghana and welcomes families from over 40 nationalities, with a significant representation of Ghanaian families.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibilities & activities This role combines security and reception duties at the visitors’ control room. As the establishment’s first point of contact, the post-holder screens and registers all visitors while providing a courteous, professional welcome. The post-holder plays a key part in pupil safety by ensuring no unauthorised person enters the campus, in line with child-safeguarding obligations.

 

Visitor reception & screening •    Welcome all visitors courteously, establish the purpose of their visit and verify their identity.

•    Register each visitor (log/badge), issue and retrieve visitor badges, and enforce access rules.

•    Notify and announce visitors to the relevant departments, granting access only after approval.

•    Refuse and report any unauthorised access, acting with firmness and tact.

Pupil safety & child safeguarding •    Ensure no unauthorised person enters the campus or comes into contact with pupils.

•    Rigorously apply pupil pick-up procedures and verify departure authorisations.

•    Immediately report any suspicious person, behaviour or situation involving a minor.

•    Maintain exemplary and caring conduct, never being inappropriately alone with a child.

Switchboard & communication •    Receive, screen and direct incoming telephone calls to the relevant departments.

•    Pass on messages and information reliably, in both French and English.

•    Receive and direct deliveries and mail according to procedure.

Monitoring & security support •    Monitor CCTV screens covering access points and the area around the control room.

•    Operate the vehicle barrier/gate and maintain the vehicle entry/exit log.

•    Raise the alarm and coordinate with security guards in the event of an incident or emergency.

•    Take part in evacuation and lockdown drills and know the emergency procedures.

Record-keeping & reporting •    Keep the visitor, vehicle and incident logs accurate and up to date.

•    Write clear, factual reports and ensure a thorough handover at shift changes.

•    Respect the confidentiality of data concerning visitors and the school community.

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES
Person specification •    Minimum WASSCE level; training in reception or private security an advantage.

•    Experience in reception, switchboard or security (minimum 2 years), ideally in a school or institutional setting.

•    Bilingual French/English — spoken fluency essential for reception and telephone duties.

•    Smart appearance, excellent interpersonal skills and a service-oriented attitude.

•    Comfortable with basic IT tools (logs, badges, email) and CCTV monitoring.

•    Clean criminal record and suitability to work around minors (background check required).

•    Vigilance, discretion, courteous firmness and a strong sense of responsibility.
