ABOUT THE SCHOOL
Lycée Français International Jacques Prévert d’Accra (LFIA) is a French school accredited by the French Ministry of National Education and by the Agency for French Education Abroad (AEFE). Founded over 60 years ago, LFIA welcomes students from Kindergarten (age 3) through to Secondary level (age 18) and is the only school in this network in Ghana.

The school is a key partner of the French Embassy in Ghana and welcomes families from over 40 nationalities, with a significant representation of Ghanaian families.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibilities & activities The Security Guard protects the people, property and premises of the establishment, with the safety of pupils and staff as the foremost priority. In a school environment serving minors, the post-holder actively contributes to a safe, vigilant and caring setting, in line with the establishment’s procedures and child-safeguarding obligations.

 

Access control & surveillance •    Control entry to and exit from the campus (pupils, staff, parents, visitors, vehicles) and verify authorisations in line with establishment procedures.

•    Conduct regular patrols of the perimeter, buildings and outdoor areas, reporting any irregularity.

•    Monitor CCTV systems and access points, responding promptly to any alert.

•    Ensure no unauthorised person approaches or comes into contact with pupils.

Pupil safety & child safeguarding •    Maintain constant attention to pupil safety around and within the campus, particularly at arrival and dismissal times.

•    Strictly apply pupil pick-up procedures and prevent any unauthorised departure of a child.

•    Immediately report to management any suspicious behaviour, unidentified person or concerning situation involving a minor.

•    Maintain exemplary and caring conduct towards pupils at all times, never being inappropriately alone with a child.

Incident response & emergency management •    Act as first responder in the event of an incident, intrusion, conflict or emergency, alerting emergency services and management without delay.

•    Take part in evacuation and lockdown drills and know the establishment’s emergency procedures.

•    Assist during evacuations, directing pupils and staff to assembly points.

•    Know the location and use of safety equipment (extinguishers, alarms, emergency exits).

Reporting & record-keeping •    Keep the occurrence log (entries/exits, incidents, patrols) accurately and legibly.

•    Write clear, factual incident reports for management.

•    Ensure a thorough handover of instructions at each shift change.

Conduct & relations •    Be courteous and professional towards pupils, parents, staff and visitors.

•    Wear the uniform provided and maintain a smart appearance.

•    Respect the confidentiality of information concerning the establishment and its community.

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES
Person specification •    Ghanaian nationality, or a valid current residence/work permit.

•    Minimum BECE/WASSCE level; private-security certification desirable.

•    Proven experience (minimum 2 years) as a security guard, ideally in a school or institutional setting.

•    Good physical fitness for patrolling, prolonged standing and night work.

•    Working knowledge in English; knowledge of French is a valued asset.

•    Clean criminal record and suitability to work around minors (background check required).
